Grapevine, Tx has passed a new law making all public photography illegal with it's city limits! The law (formerly known as proposition 356b) not only applies to professional photographers, but any photography. This means you can be ticketed just for using a point and shoot when on public property. The city, which has become a popular tourist destination, claims that photography has become a nuisance to tourist due to people stopping on public walkways. I plan to call the City on Monday and express my extreme displeasure!
Okay, the above didn't really happen. Judging by the response to this same post on my FaceBook there would be some really mad people if it did. So why pick on Grapevine for my April Fools prank? Well, sadly it's not that far from the truth. In January a few photography enthusiasts went to the public park on Lake Grapevine. They got out their DSLR cameras and immediately the park rangers came running over to tell them they were not allowed to take photography there. They were not able to cite a code or law, but continued to make them delete their cards! The photographer mailed a letter to the mayor, but never got a response. So watch out if you're taking pictures in Grapevine. Happy April Fools Day!
